peripheral vascular disease, wtf?

i had my legs (arteries) checked using the "ankle brachial pressure index"… that showed my right leg is still in the "okay" range, while my left leg indicates "some arterial disease".

damn. i noticed i already have varicose veins in my legs as well as single toes turning blue-ish / cold at random, but wtf?

how did this happen? i am 26, i am not obese (BMI <30), i dont smoke, i eat rather healthy (serum lipid levels are good; very low LDL as well as okay levels of HDL), i dont have diabetes… the only real risk factor i have is: i dont do sports. at all. and, well, i have hypertension (high blood pressure); it was 160/90 on that exam. i also have cardiac arrhythmia due to fuck-knows-why. grrr.

oh well, further investigation to follow. hope they just failed at measuring things and it turns out alright, but then again, some symptoms are there.
